Radiocommunications and Videotechnologies Department

Department Sections

Research is an integral part of the learning process. It influences both the scientific development of the teaching staff as well as the professional qualification of the students. One must take into account that a significant part of fundamental research in the Department of Radio communications and Video technologies is with real life applications and it has a great impact on economic development of the country and the business. Based on long-established scientific research traditions, the department’s academic staff specializes in four scientific directions in which it trains students and doctoral students and carries out active research:

In the last three years the department has participated and conducted more than 30 research contracts worth around € 900,000, of which 4 international, 11 were funded by the National Fund for Scientific Research, 9 with companies in the telecommunication sector and 14 internal research projects. The results of the studies conducted under these contracts are presented in more than 300 articles and papers published in reputed national and international journals and conference proceedings. Experts from the department are members of editorial boards and reviewers in a number of national and international journals and conferences. For the same period, the department’s academic staff has received two international and two national research awards. In addition, nine applications were submitted for the protection of intellectual property issued to Bulgarian organizations. The total number of publications in the department till now exceeds 2500; the number of inventions and patents, including those involving international teams is more than 90.

An European portal for international student’s internships and projects Praxis has been created with participation in ERASMUS program of prof. Dimitar Dimitrov from Department of Radiocommunication and Videotechnology , Faculty of Telecommunication, Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria:
